They are a part of the Christmas holiday and we are aware of them long before the Christmas holiday begins. No they aren’t decorations or wish lists, although those start pretty early, they are actually Christmas songs.
Ever since I was young, Christmas songs were an important part of the holiday and even today, they still are. Radio stations start playing them weeks before Christmas and stores pipe them through their sound systems. They are an integral part of the Christmas cheer and even the most “scrooge” individual can’t help humming away to “jingle bells” as they wander through a store.
This brings us, of course, to this site where we love Christmas songs. We hum them as we work and we are constantly looking for new songs and carols to share with everyone around us.
We love the classics like “White Christmas,” the swinging Christmas songs of the forties and fifties like, “Jingle Bell Rock,” and the new parodies that have surfaced like, “Grandma got run over by a Reindeer.” There are hundreds of Christmas songs out there and there are never enough hours in the holiday season to sing them all.
However, that doesn’t mean that we don’t try and that is the inspiration behind this site where we talk about all things to do with Christmas songs. We reminisce about days gone by and we talk about the latest and greatest holiday jingles that are being created, or recreated as the case may be. In addition, we offer the lyrics of song so you can fill your holiday season with music and cheer.
So regardless of if you are looking for the classics or are looking for a good Christmas song parody, we have it all.

I first fell in love with Aimee Mann after watching the movie Magnolia. She performed the soundtrack and I love her dreamy voice. This is a beautiful Christmas song in which she sings with Michael Penn, who is her husband. Michael Penn is also the brother of Sean Penn. Enjoy this beautiful Christmas song from an adorable husband and wife duo!
Neil Diamond was a favorite musician of my mother and father. They always liked to tell the story of the first concert they went together was a Neil Diamond concert, where cannon balls were shot into the air. I think my mother also liked him so much because her name was Caroline. She was our very own “Sweet Caroline”. Here is a beautiful version of “O Holy Night” performed by Neil Diamond that gives me goosebumps.
I adore The Raveonettes. In fact, they are one of my very favorite bands. Their music reminds me of a flash back to the 60′s or something. Not that I was alive in the 60′s, but I imagine they would fit in just fine there. This song, “The Christmas Song”, is a dreamy little diddy about Christmas time. If you’re new to The Raveonettes, sit back and relax and let them serenade you now.
About 2o seconds into this video I had tears in my eyes. ”Hallelujah” may not be a Christmas song per se, but it sure is special to me. Leonard Cohen is one of my all time musicians, and here in this video, where he is 75 years old, his voice is amazing. God bless Leonard Cohen, you and yours this holiday season.
A few years ago my husband played his favorite Christmas song for me – The Pogues “Fairytale of New York”. I have to be honest, at first I wasn’t in love with it. But then I listened, and listened some more, and now it is one my favorites too. Having a lot of Irish in me, it speaks to my roots. I also love the voice of Kristy MacColl (RIP). She was an amazing lady, and I hate to read about her tragic and mysterious death. Also, I hope Shane MacGowan is doing well these days. He has had a rough life. Maybe that is what makes the song so special – all the love, tears and pain of life rolled into one beautiful Christmas song. Anyways, here is a beautiful Irish diddy that makes me feel warm all over.
Here is a beautiful little Christmas number performed by Coldplay. I have to admit I am a Coldplay fan. I enjoy that their music is not too abrasive. Often I will love a band, and then all the sudden they get crazy on me and will throw in an abrasive song with heavy guitars or scream-y lyrics. I do not enjoy that. This is not the case with Coldplay. In my opinion they are the perfect band for successfully executing new Christmas music. Also, I really like this video. Merry Christmas!
Check out the video for “The Dancing Christmas Tree” song. It’s pretty cute and if you have small children or toddlers they should be mesmerized by the dancing figures.
My father loved Johnny Cash, and so do I. I found this heartwarming video of ”The 12 Days of Christmas” from the Johnny Cash Christmas show. It is so sweet. Please take five minutes from your busy day and enjoy this Christmas video.
I found this lovely version of “Oh Holy Night” performed by Susan Boyle on Youtube. She sounds absolutely angelic and lovely. I have to say “Oh Holy Night” is by far my favorite Christmas song. That said, I think she does it justice. God bless Susan Boyle and may she have continued success!
I have loved the angelic songs of Enya for many years. During the holidays, and especially Christmas time, I crave soft and sweet songs. Here is a magical hymn from Enya to enjoy! Oh, and the by the way just listening to this today prompted me to buy And Winter Came.
“You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” is the Christmas song composed in 1966 for the infamous movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The iconic song was composed by Albert Hague and performed by the one and only Thurl Ravenscroft. What would a Christmas music website be without this song? Enjoy!
I have been in love with Badly Drawn Boy since I first saw the movie About A Boy. Badly Drawn Boy, AKA Damon Gough, is an English alternative singer and songwriter. His sweet melodies are romantic and lovely. Apparently, this song, Donna & Blitzen, was featured in a commercial for Sears. Enjoy the animal pictures that flow well with the beautiful Christmas song.
She & Him is the Indie love child of musicians Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward. One of my favorite songs of theirs is Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas of their album A Very She & Him Christmas which was released earlier this year!
Take a moment from your day to relax and listen to Christmas Time is Here. Such a simple yet such a beautiful song. Vince Guaralidi Trio really know how to make that warm Christmas feeling come alive!
Charlie Brown Christmas reminds me of all my wonderful childhood memories and how exciting Christmas really is. Oh, to be a kid again! Let’s do and take some time to watch the sweet video below.
Wham! was a British musical duo formed by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. Although the band was short lived they sold over 25 million records from 198-1986. Here is Wham! singing “Last Christmas”.
I know I recently posted a different Sufjan Stevens Christmas song but I couldn’t resist posting another. Also, as I just posted “Joy to the World” by Dolly Parton yesterday, I thought this would be a great way to follow up on that.
I own the box set “Songs for Christmas” by Sufjan and I covet it during the holidays. Actually, I find myself listening to it through other times of the year as well. I think one listener on Youtube pretty much summed up my feelings on Sufjan “Sufjan Stevens’ voice is like… warm cider”. Yep, I agree. I’m letting it wash all over me!
I love Home Alone and watch it every Christmas. One song in particular from the movie that stands out to me is, “O Holy Night”. I still get teary-eyed every time I watch the scene in the church with the little girl signing to her estranged grandfather. You know the scene, the “sad scene”. Anyways, here is the song I found on Youtube by John Williams. Beautiful, sweet and touching – just like Christmas!
